Mapping malware on its way to Melbourne Australia using Great Circles
We tracked IPs that were attempting to connect to our system, which was based in Melbourne Australia. We then traced the route back to the source IP and geolocated each of the "hops" that malware went through to get to us (this method is indicative only and subject to various caveats)
Where green and red appear, these maps are color coded whereby the green end of the line is the starting point of the hop and the red end is the landing point.
These images were created using the programming language "R", which is a well known language for statistical computing and graphics.
